Chef Scott Cleeton,

CC’s City Broiler - Tuesday, June 23
Savvy businessman by day, premier restaurant chef by night — that’s how Scott Cleeton has built one of Columbia’s most successful restaurants. Cleeton has his hand in every aspect of his restaurant, CC’s City Broiler: filing paper, checking invoices, answering e-mails and taking phone calls, then cutting USDA prime steaks flown in daily from Chicago and stoking the oak wood fire for grilling.

The son of restaurateurs, Cleeton has been cooking ever since he could remember. He opened CC’s City Broiler in Mexico, Mo., in 1989 and moved it to the old bus depot in downtown Columbia in 1995. A dozen years later, success had CC’s on the move again, to its current Forum Boulevard location.

CC’s has a special place in the hearts — and stomachs — of Columbians. The restaurant has won Best of Columbia honors for its steak three years running.
